At first, the lyrics for Days Gone and Done tried to eat me alive. It had a totally different melody & chord structure and it kept asking for more & more words, but the more I fed it, the more it wanted. After almost 3 weeks, I had enough and decided to start over. I came up with a new melody, chord structure and condensed and reworked the lyrics. Finally I think this song has been satiated. Bon Appetit!

Kept my hope inside, held close it to my chest
I’ve been trying to cry, but I must confess
I sleep where I lie, despite my unrest

The trees in the forest sway together as one
As I whisper the chorus of praise gone unsung
What’s brought before us cannot be undone
What lies in store you’ll never outrun

I’m at my best, in the weeds of distress
I wasn’t depressed but my fire was burning out
I wanted to rest, run and hide underground
God bless this mess of my own design

I’ve dodged my old haunts and now I’m a lost cause
Stumbled past bones & blood on my way out of town
The tears come-a-flooding because my levee’s broke down
Now my well’s full of nothing but days done & gone
